We also have news from some of our “RBA RISING STARS”:

Alex J Wood is the winner of our Rome Scholarship 2021!   He says he is ” … over the moon” and looking forward to staying in Rome next spring – Covid permitting of course.  Alex also has an exhibition of his work at The Chelsea Arts Club from May 25th – 13th June.  Included will be new paintings and bronzes including his “Claw of Archimedes”, pictured below:

The other two “RBA STAR” finalists for the Rome Scholarship were:

Eve Jansen and Alex Wilmoth

They both did very well but were ‘pipped at the post’ by Alex Wood!

Another “RBA STAR” who is doing very well and who appears regularly in our newsletters in view of his achievements is Habib Hajalli. He has a work, “Mary Seacole” in the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour exhibition on now at the Mall Galleries, and this work was …

“Highly Commended” by Anthony J Lester’s Art Critic Prize:

Also, Habib had two works selected in the RBA Annual Exhibition and his “The Pa” was “Highly Commended” by The de Laszlo Foundation Prize:

Also “Highly Commended” by The de Laszlo Foundation Prize in our show was “RBA STAR” Chris Polunin for his work “Two Apples”

More accolades at the RBA Exhibition were given to our “RBA STARS” by Art Critic and blogger Katherine Tyrell:

“Best Portrait in the show”               “Best Lockdown Painting”

And another Prize winner in the RBA Exhibition was Owain Hunt, who won The John Lynn Commemorative Award for his “Man in a Red Chair”:

Another RBA STAR is Charlie Schaffer who had his work “Imara” included in the Royal Society of Portrait Painters exhibition at the Mall Galleries

And Nicholas Baldion had his work “The Death of a Courier”
shortlisted for Jacksons People’s Choice Award

Molly Lambourn tells us that she has a three month digital residency from April – June at Jane Austen House.   Her work is inspired by the vibrant green ‘Chawton Leaf’ wallpaper in the Dining Room, and explores the intimacy of historical artefacts and ideas of romance, sexuality and scandal…

“RBA STAR” Ruth Murray, who was the winner of the Jacksons Painting Prize in 2020 is this year an ‘Expert Judge’ on the judging panel!   At the moment she has work in a touring exhibition – New Light; Real Northern Art – and it will be at The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle, from the 4th – 29th August.  And I spotted another RBA STAR in the same exhibition …
