Observational drawing and a fascination with pattern and detail in the natural and man made world form the basis for the paintings and prints Meg Dutton produces.

She lives and works in London but frequently travels abroad to collect source material for her work, and to absorb the essence and culture of the places visited.

The images for her prints and paintings are often constructed from a compilation of various photographs and drawings. She has a particular fascination with Moorish Architecture as well as with the history, intrigues and legends of past times in those places visited.

She was born in Gateshead in 1951.

Studied at...

  • Chelsea School of Art, Diploma in Art & Design. 1970 - 1973
  • Brighton, Art Teaching Diploma. 1973 - 1974

She taught art part-time in various schools and collages until summer 2000.

In the 1980s she became involved with printmaking and etching- as another way of developing her drawings, and was a member and chairman of Southbank Printmakers in the 1990s.
